Niagara Falls is Your Summer Golf Destination
In our competitive world of golf destinations, Niagara Falls has hit a Hole-In-One. Not only are the American and Horseshoe Falls spectacular, the golf courses there are amazing also. I had the opportunity to travel there in June and enjoy the wonderful weather and a few of the golf courses in the area. There are eight courses in the area that will challenge your game in many different ways. A few of them are tree-lined, others have lakes, and some feature the pot bunkers of links-style golf.
Having played most of my golf for the past six years in the deserts of Las Vegas and Arizona, it was an awesome change to be playing in Niagara Falls. The area is just the opposite of the desert, it is all green! Replacing all the desert areas are the towering trees lining the fairways and blue lakes dotted all over the golf courses. The courses I played that fit this mold are Grand Niagara, the two courses at The Legends, and Peninsula Lakes. Then, if you want a change from this, you head to Hunters Point. This golf course is set up to be a links-style course with the big pot bunkers and wispy, long grasses that eat up your golf shots.
Speaking as a Las Vegas resident, the night life in Niagara Falls is surprisingly pretty good. There is a casino about 300 yards away from the Oakes Hotel where I stayed, with a couple of dance clubs, booze and gambling. Everything here shuts down at 2:30 in the morning, so you can get back to the room and get some sleep. I would recommend staying at the Oakes Hotel because of the Falls-view room which has an amazing view of the Horseshoe Falls right from your bed. The Oakes Hotel is centrally located to all that the area has to offer also.
So, if any of you out there are looking for some different scenery for golf and fun, consider Niagara Falls as that destination. I know first hand what this area has to offer and I can say that you will not be disappointed.
