Loch Ness Links

If you have never played a links-style golf course, I would highly recommend making your way over to Loch Ness Links Golf Club in Niagara Falls, Canada. In talking to resort guests and locals who have golfed Loch Ness Links, I have noticed a trend - they either love it or hate it. This is a little harsh, if you ask me. I like to try and look at an experience for what it is worth.

Let me paint a picture for you. You drive up to a majestic stone clubhouse perched above a lake wrapped by two beautiful golf holes. Your clubs are taken from you right away and placed on your awaiting golf cart. There is a two-story restaurant and sitting lounge if you are looking for a pint or bit to eat before you attack the golf course. As you mount your golf cart one of the starters will guide you over to the range. There is a sign you need to pay attention to, irons only on the range. Take that sign to heart - there are only a few holes where you should pull out the driver.

If you have played the course before, you should play it again. The nines have been switched up, all except for holes nine and eighteen. This revision has accelerated pace of play and still gives you the perfect finishing hole on eighteen. Here are a couple suggestions for you before you play this course. You have already seen the first - put the driver away unless you are very consistent. Loch Ness Links is tough but fair. If you manage your clubs right you can walk away with a great score. Do not over-read the greens. It may seem like there is more break on the greens than appears. The greens at the practice facility are very accurate to what the greens are on the golf course.

The bottom line for playing Loch Ness Links is this: hit the ball straight and do not over-read the greens. This is a fantastic golf course and unlike any other golf course in the area!
